Doing the Impossible
Just a note of thanks on behalf of myself (and my family!) for the wonderful job you did in handling my recent dual “contingency” real estate transactions. Due to special circumstances, both transactions were challenging, to say the least, but you handled each with such professionalism and patience, while at the same time displaying such a caring heart for all concerned. We are very grateful – Thank You So Much, Elaine! You are “one in a million”!

Listening is Key
Elaine Abercrombie of Abercrombie Fine Homes was my realtor when I sold my mobile/manufactured home in Santa Barbara recently. I’m glad I chose her to be my selling agent because of the cooperative partnership we formed. She was professional and diligent about updating me of her activities to sell my property, gave useful suggestions about how to make the property look attractive as well as how to provide advance information to any prospective buyers. She used innovative ways to advertise the property, such as the photographer who produced an amazing 360 degree view slideshow much like a video for the MLS. This was the second time I’ve worked with Elaine. She helped me buy a mobile home originally 3 years ago. Now, as then, she is knowledgeable about manufactured homes, mobile home park rules and regulations, the lending process and escrow process. I was able to rely on her 100% without fear that some part of this would fall through the cracks. I was grateful that she was always on top of the schedule to meet all the many interim deadlines that occur during a home sale and followed up consistently to ensure all parties were completing their actions in a timely fashion to ensure escrow closed on time. I would use her again and recommend her highly.

Sometimes It Takes a Village
I wanted to express my gratitude and thanks for all of your help with the sale of my mom’s house. I appreciate your kindness, patience and guidance during the entire process, and for supporting both my mom and me. I know some days were more challenging than others, and you were there with us every step of the way. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Many thanks again for all that you’ve done. Hope our paths will cross again in the future.
Ready? Or Not… She’s There
Elaine walked with me as I went through the process of selling my home of 45 years. Several years ago, I asked her what I might find in Santa Barbara to replace my home in the mountains and she advised me to stay put for awhile since I would not find anything comparable in town. I appreciated her candor – she was more interested in my well-being than acquiring a listing.
Then, in 2016, I decided that it was time to sell. I contacted Elaine and we went through the initial paperwork and getting the house ready to be sold. In the middle of this, I changed my mind! I dreaded calling Elaine to let her know because she had already done a good deal of work for me. However, she responded very gently and let me know that I could call her when and if I changed my mind.
The next year, I felt definitely ready to sell and Elaine’s expertise was invaluable. She was more than a professional broker. She was a caring friend and advocate. She protected my interests. She advised me and offered her opinions, but never judged my responses. She consistently communicated with me, and as I live out of state now, we were able to complete much of the paperwork on line.
I will recommend her to anyone interested in selling. Even if you aren’t sure about selling yet, she is willing to answer your questions and let you know what will be required. I am happy to have sold the house but I will miss talking to Elaine!

First Time Buyers
As first-time home buyers, my husband and I were so fortunate to have Elaine as our agent. Her expertise in the industry, perseverance and upbeat attitude were the driving forces behind our finding the perfect home. We were aware of the challenge of searching for a home in Santa Barbara, but Elaine’s optimism and diligence made the entire process painless. She provided excellent advice and made this dream come true for us. We love our new home!

Available, Cheerful & Knowledgeable
When the time came to put my house up for sale I was concerned because I hadn’t sold any property for more than 50 years. I was worried about the complexity of paperwork. Thanks to Elaine, these problems were all handled beautifully.
- Worry #1: Get the house presentable for sale. This actually turned out to be a non-problem because Elaine have a very good sense of arrangement. We removed one rug and spent one hour moving shifting and changing small items and it looked better than ever.
- Worry #2: Getting organized and listed. Elaine and I talked for an hour. I dug up some old documents on lot size and she did all the rest, invisible to me.
- Worry #3: What about the hordes of people constantly coming in, looking and leaving. Well that wasn’t easy but Elaine was blessed with an organizing ability and a sense of discipline that kept order whenever chaos threatened.
Most Important, she was always available, cheerful and knowledgeable. I cannot thank her enough for all the professional service that was always delivered with a cheerful smile.

What to do with the family home?
After knowing Elaine Abercrombie for many years and seeing her success in real estate sales, we decided to have her help us with our mother’s property on the Mesa. In a market like today’s, it is imperative to have current information. Elaine gave us the gift of the truth in every aspect of the transaction, even if we didn’t want to hear it. Her conversation and communication style was truly appreciated since there were so many siblings to keep updated at all times. The expertise she shared helped us make wise decisions so we could move forward and sell for the most money possible in today’s market. I am happy to refer Elaine Abercrombie and her expertise to all my friends and family for their next real estate transaction.

We were able to close escrow on the childhood home my siblings and I inherited after our Mother passed away last year. While it was a bittersweet emotional ride for my family, Elaine’s calm demeanor, timely professional advice and unique ability to be a moderating voice of reason when dealing with the difficult family dynamics we brought to the table at times is deserving of our heartfelt thank you! We would not hesitate to recommend Elaine’s services to anyone considering selling or purchasing a local property. They would certainly be in very capable hands.

It was time to sell the property Grandfather built and my Father remodeled (this is the property that I grew up in and held so many cherished memories). It became a rental property after my Mom died over 20 years ago. Being built in the 1930’s, the City of Santa Barbara Zoning Department did not have complete records and they required parts of the property to be removed before the sale could close.
The delays caused us to loose three buyers. After each buyer cancelled, Elaine had another offer for us to look at within 24 hours. When other agents would have quit, Elaine became more determined to get our property closed so we could move on. If you want someone to stand with you till the end, then please call Elaine Abercrombie. She will no doubt help you sell your property too.

Selling Across Country
Elaine saved me the stress of trying to find assistance with my furniture, flooring and painting from the other side of the country. I am so grateful that she took the time to inform me with every step of the sale. I would highly recommend her as an efficient realtor to my friends in Santa Barbara. Thank you so much!

We want to express our profound gratitude for the manner in which Elaine handled the listing and sale of our Mom’s home. It had to be one of those nearly impossible situations, and might easily have been treated less than enthusiastically given the ramifications of a down market. Add to that the legal elements that could have muddied the waters considerably.
As a former broker having been licensed in Hawaii and here in Southern California, I believe I can speak with some degree of authority when evaluating the professionalism Elaine brought to this situation. The way she presented herself in the broker/client relationship was most refreshing. We had prepared ourselves emotionally for a long, drawn-out market time. We’ve all been there so it wouldn’t have been a big surprise. Still, doldrums might inevitably have set in, especially given the fact that Mom had passed away right in the midst of the listing. Imagine the delight and cautious optimism we felt when Elaine informed us that we were going into escrow after less than ninety days market time. Believe me we have no hesitation in recommending her services to anyone who will sit still and listen. The real estate world can always use an infusion of Elaine’s brand of professionalism and calm demeanor.

Selling Income Property
The prospect of selling a house when living 2500 miles away was a challenge but I trusted Elaine would take care of the necessary details and she did. She initiated and managed all the inspections prior to listing my home. There was work to be done on the house and Elaine coordinated the repairs. She stayed in touch regularly so I knew how things were progressing by sending pictures detailing the progress as it took place. She attracted a buyer in a timely manner and I was very pleased with the price I received. The whole process went smoothly and Elaine became a treasured family friend.
